Reminder: Art Exhibition Thursday 12th May
Join us for our first post-covid showcase to mark Mental Health Awareness Week
Good afternoon everyone,
A slightly different vibe to our usual round-up newsletter. We just wanted to remind you that our first showcase since the pandemic is this Thursday (12th May) at our Ancoats hub (full details below):
The showcase is to mark Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs until next Monday. Sessions such as our textiles and art drop-ins help combat loneliness and play a part in improving people’s wellbeing alongside our other services.
This is also a great opportunity to see our newly refurbed Olive Branch café, located on the ground floor of our Ancoats hub.
Not many people get the chance to have their art showcased
Here’s some accounts of the artists displaying their work on the night:
It helps me concentrate my mind and imagination at the same time
I was inspired by my trip on the tram. My hometown of Wythenshaw recently got this wonderful system - it’s cheap, it’s fast and clean and always on time - it’s like Batman, I am a great fan
Art to me means expressing yourself, whether this is on a canvas or on the dance-floor. Not many people get the chance to their art showcased, it gives me a good feeling deep inside
What does art mean to me? Everything. I float away and the time goes. I look at the clock and it’s 5am. I love it so much. I started doing it about 10 years ago and never stopped. I’ve even sold a couple. I’m a recovering gambler so it helps.
